1. What's your TxDMV certificate number?
Every household mover in Texas needs an active certificate. Check it in the state's Truck Stop database. Ours is #000572890B.
2. Will I get a written proposal before you load?
The answer must be yes—Texas requires it. Be wary of anyone who only quotes by phone.
3. Is the price binding or not-to-exceed?
Binding is the exact price; not-to-exceed is the maximum. Either is fine, as long as you know which one you have.
4. What could change the final price?
Listen for clear answers about time, stairs, access and extra services—not vague reassurance.
5. What's your liability for damage, and can I increase it?
Texas lets you and the mover agree on liability before the move. Some agreements limit it to 60 cents per pound per item. That isn't insurance, so ask about options and consider your own coverage.
6. Who will actually do my move?
Ask whether the company's own crew handles the job from start to finish.
7. How do you protect my home and furniture?
Pads, wrap, floor and doorway protection should be standard answers.
8. What happens if my dates change?
Closings slip. Ask how changes are handled and whether storage can be coordinated.
9. How do I reach you on moving day?
You want a real person on the phone, not a call center. Our phone is answered daily, 8am to 5pm.
10. How do claims work if something is damaged?
In Texas you file a written claim within 90 days of delivery, and TxDMV offers free mediation if you and the mover can't agree. See how Texas protects your move.
