South Austin to anywhere in Texas

Texas is big. Your moving plan should be bigger.

Texas gives a moving truck plenty of road to consider. One coordinated crew handles your intrastate move from Central Texas to San Antonio, Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, El Paso and points between.

Intrastate moving

One Texas crew from the first door to the last.

Longer moves add timing, mileage and coordination to everything a local move already requires. We gather the details early, plan the load for the route and set expectations for pickup and delivery before the truck rolls.

Know your rights

How Texas protects a move inside the state

Moves that stay within Texas are regulated by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. Here is what the state requires, in plain language.

  • An active TxDMV certificate. Every company moving household goods within Texas, from major van lines to local movers, must hold one. Ours is #000572890B.
  • A written proposal before loading. It is either binding (the exact price) or not-to-exceed (the most you can be charged), and it should say when payment is due and which payment methods are accepted.
  • Liability agreed in advance. You and the mover agree before the move how much the mover is liable for loss or damage. Some agreements limit it to 60 cents per pound per item—so a damaged 50-pound TV would pay $30. That is not insurance; you can buy your own.
  • A signed contract at delivery. The mover must give you a completed copy of the moving services contract signed by both of you. Write any damage on it before signing.

Common questions

Is a long-distance move inside Texas regulated?

Yes. Movers carrying household goods anywhere within Texas must hold an active TxDMV certificate and follow Chapter 218 of Title 43 of the Texas Administrative Code. Moves that cross state lines are regulated by the federal FMCSA instead.

What is the difference between a binding and a not-to-exceed proposal?

A binding proposal states the exact price of the move. A not-to-exceed proposal states the maximum price. Either way, be ready to pay up to the amount on the latest written proposal or amended contract at delivery.

What if something is lost or damaged?

File a written claim with the mover within 90 days of delivery, with the details and amount you are asking for, and keep damaged items and boxes for inspection. The mover has 90 days to pay, deny or offer a settlement, and TxDMV offers free mediation if you can't agree.

What should I tell a mover to get an accurate estimate?

Everything that will move, plus special conditions at both ends: stairs, long carries, elevators, narrow streets and any delivery deadlines.
