Heavy items need a plan, not just muscle
Most injuries and damage with heavy items happen on stairs, thresholds and turns. The safe way is to know the weight, measure the path and bring the right equipment.
Common heavy items
- Gun safes and document safes
- Refrigerators, washers, dryers and freezers
- Pool tables and arcade cabinets
- Treadmills, home gyms and weight sets
- Large stone or marble furniture
Tell us before moving day
Share the item's make, size and approximate weight, plus stairs, slopes and surfaces along the path at both homes. We'll plan the crew and equipment.
Prepare appliances
Empty and defrost freezers and refrigerators a day ahead, disconnect water lines, and secure washer drums if your model requires it. Gas appliances should be disconnected by a qualified professional.
